First any car adapter with an output should be selected and checked for the above mentioned voltage output range using voltage meter and then the plugging piece should be cut off.

The wires should be stripped so that the black and red wires are exposed. The female end of the usb plug must be cut off from the USB cable extension leaving nearly eight inches for ease and room for error. The usb cable is stripped to expose the four usb wires alone. The white and green wires should be cut. With heat shrink tubing the wires should be prepared. Then the black to black and red to red wires should be soldered and the joints are covered to protect them from short out.
